Women's Leadership Lab

Behind every successful woman, there is a tribe of successful women who have her back.

For the past 20 years, I have been living and breathing this truism.

My mother taught me, as her mother taught her, that women need women. So, I am creating a small, intimate group for women who are wanting support in taking on the leadership roles in their life. I’m calling it the Women’s Leadership Lab. Whatever you have going on in your life, bring it to the lab and we’ll work it out together.

I use an inclusive definition of “woman” where trans women, genderqueer women, and non-binary people who are female-identified are welcome in the Lab.

Leadership looks like different things to different women, just as no two women are alike. What we all do need, I have found, is support, compassion, empathy, accurate information and useful strategies available to us consistently.

The group will meet twice a month for three months. Once the group begins, no new people will be added. Each meeting will be 2 hours and here is the format:

The first hour, I will facilitate a group discussion based on material I have found to be super useful to me as a leader in many different communities and capacities. The materials may be an article, a podcast, a book. Everything I bring to the Lab will be intersectional, anti-racist and anti-misogynist. There will be exercises for sharing and learning about the other women in the group.

The second hour, I will work with individual women in front of the group on a current leadership challenge or opportunity they are experiencing in their lives. We will use the group’s intelligence to workshop it together along with my leadership exprience being in support of the process. I am planning on doing two of these each night, so that each participant will have a chance to get this type of focussed attention. We will support each woman though experiences of misogny, internalized sexism, agism, racism, homophobia, sexual harrassment, classism and social conditioning that expects women to always put other people’s needs, opinions and desires before her own.

In between meetings, there will be optional homework and readings, as well as a private facebook group moderated by me for mutual support. You will also choose an accountability/check in person to form a dynamic duo. My goal is to not replicate any of the other trainings I’ve seen that are geared toward women where it’s grossly sexist, overtly tied to capitalist exploitation and unconscious of both privilege and racism.

I want to keep the groups small, max 12 women. We will practice both receiving and being the kind of support we want to see in the world.

***Here’s where you get to choose which track you’ll be in***

Track A will meet every other Wednesday starting October 11

Track B will meet every other Wednesday starting on October 18

Each group will meet 6 times, going though December.

The cost for participating in the Women’s Leadership Lab is sliding scale donation between $250 and $450.

Again, seats will be limited. Register here:
