The only bright side is being reunited with his favorite cousin\, Nat\, who he hasn’t seen in years.\nAt first\, King wants nothing more than to go home to Boston. There are barely any other Black people in Vermont\, the townsfolk are mean to him\, and his relatives don’t even have Wi-Fi to play games! But a late-night encounter with a young coyote changes his mind. King develops a bond with the creature\, who seems just as lonely and misunderstood as he is. Break out your New Year’s Eve party outfit and dress to impress! \n(1) \nThe first rule of Instant Band Night is: * YOU * DON’T * HAVE * TO * PLAY * AN * INSTRUMENT * TO * ATTEND * \n(2) \nThe second rule of Instant Band Night is: We guarantee you (the audience) an astonishingly excellent time. \n(3) \nThe third rule of Instant Band Night is: Bring a friend or three! \nIn case you’ve never been to Instant Band Night\, here’s the deal: \n1. The stage has a drum kit\, guitar\, bass\, keyboard\, and mics. \n2. We draw names out of hats to make instant bands that get 5 minutes in the green room to plan a 5-minute set (one song).* \n3. A hat-drawn artist will also take the stage alongside each band to draw their gig poster on a meeting room easel pad. \n* If you’ve brought a friend (or friends) you want to play with and you’ve already worked something out or you make some friends at the event and you know you want to play together\, just come to the front desk and let us know! \nHOWEVER! No show is complete without an audience: if you don’t play an instrument or sing\, COME ANYWAY and just watch; you’ve never seen anything like it. \nCreativity!! Courage!! Come see the show and have a good time; you don’t have to get onstage. \nQ: I’m a musician; am I guaranteed a slot in a band? \nA: We literally draw names written on slips of paper out of coffee cans\, so there’s a chance you may not be called; in a purely mathematical sense\, it’s a function of how many musicians of each type show up that night (there are five musician cans (DRUMS\, GUITAR\, BASS\, VOX\, MISC) and one can for artists who’ll be picked to draw the bands’ gig posters\, plus a special form for people who showed up with at least one friend and already have something in mind (or bands who spontaneously form at the show\, which happens sometimes). We say: surrender to the spirit of random chance\, or maybe slip the MC a bribe of some sort. \nQ: Do I have to be an amazing musician to throw my name in a can? \nA: Probably not. Your band’s only gonna be onstage for 5 minutes\, anyway; how bad can you possibly be? \nQ: I play an instrument other than what’ll be onstage\, like the sax or trumpet. Can I bring it? \nA: Hhhheeeeeelll yyyeeeessssss you can bring it. PLEASE DO. We had a guy bring a bassoon once\, and he rocked the living shit out of it — and\, by extension\, us. Woodwinds and brass\, which tend not to need extra amplification for a space of this size beyond being pointed vaguely at a mic\, are most welcome. If your instrument requires an amp\, that’s cool\, but you should get in touch with Jon about showing up early for setup. \nNOTE TO GUITARISTS: Leave your axe at home\, friend! We’ve got two of them onstage already. Yes\, yours is better than ours\, but look: you’re only gonna be up there for five minutes at a time: how much difference does it really make? We have no doubt you’ve got the skills to make anything with six strings and a pickup sound good!! \nQ: Do I have to pick my cover tunes beforehand? \nA: Listen. You and your band (who you’ve JUST MET) have 5 minutes onstage to do whatever the hell you can think of in the 5 minutes prior to walking up there. DESCRIPTION:One day\, two workshops! \nThose interested in learning both the conditioning it takes to prevent injury and learn enticing movement should plan to stay for the full day. \nWe will not have time allotted for much stretching and warmup during Erotic Movement as a standalone class; we strongly recommend attending for the full day. If you plan to attend only Erotic Movement\, please plan to arrive early and take time before class to get fully warmed up and stretched before we begin. \nFlexibility for Kink \nLike a gorgeous leather jacket can age beautifully or badly depending on how it’s cared for\, stretching our bodies is fundamental to staying healthy. \nBut rarely do we make time to stretch\, and too often we don’t know enough about how to do it. Just like the leather clothes\, boots\, or toys we love\, we want our bodies to be available for fun and thrilling adventures on demand. Both our bodies and our leather thrive best and live longest with regular care and attention\, not just at Folsom but all year round. \nWith roots in yoga\, Pilates\, Feldenkrais\, ballet\, calisthenics\, and more\, this class is my own creation. A relaxing\, gentle\, and holistic experience\, in this class you will discover new stretches and learn new ways to care for your body. Get guidance and support from an expert (me!)\, expand your physical reach\, and have fun too! \nErotic Movement \nIn a world that says pleasure is pointless and our bodies are for producing results\, profit\, or carrying our brains around\, come spend a day in the radical act of loving your body exactly the way you are\, right now. \nWhat if you could move your body to music in new ways\, that expanded both your physical self-expression and your relationship to your erotic self? \nWe focus on floorwork\, walking\, standing\, crawling\, mind-body connection\, organic movement\, improvisation\, authenticity\, building confidence\, and intentionality. Bring your questions\, goals\, concerns\, curiosity\, and desires! \nThis workshop is open to all levels. \nIf you have taken the shorter version in the past you are especially encouraged to attend. A section of time will be set aside to address your custom wants and needs. \nConnect your sensual heart to your body by moving in new ways to inspiring music. We practice allowing ourselves to find our inner sensual being\, gaining confidence and movement vocabulary. Flexibility\, strength\, and musicality are all taught in an indirect way\, while we focus on your body’s desires for movement and expression. Awaken new sides of your sensual self through movement and musicality in this slow and welcoming format. Suitable for all levels and abilities. \nThis is a body positive\, safe\, welcoming environment. \nWARNING ⚠️ \nLower body nudity is not allowed in this class!!! Wear a PG-13/”street legal” base layer over your lower half private areas that you will NOT be removing – swimwear is ideal! \nNipples and chests of all genders are welcome to be bare in this class\, or you may keep them covered to suit your personal preference. Please plan accordingly. \nPRESENTER: \nAlexandria has been teaching dance and movement since 1998\, including private lessons\, small group studio classes\, and large public classes of 100+. Her repertoire includes pole for all bodies\, ballet for real life\, belly dance\, floorwork\, high heels dancing\, lap dancing\, Flexibility 4 Life\, salsa\, merengue\, bachata\, cha-cha\, east coast swing\, social waltz\, feminine sensual movement\, rhythm training\, body confidence\, non-verbal communication\, and more. Her mantra is #whenindoubtslowdown and her rally cry is “All bodies\, all genders\, all ages: come home to your body”. This is what most people should pay. \nThe support ticket is $190\, this is for those who cannot afford the full ticketing price. \nIf you’re able to be generous\, paying at the $150 option allows us to make tickets accessible to those who need the discount. \nYou also will have the option to register for just the morning or afternoon sessions. \nACCESS: \nIn SF\, this class will be held at East Bay Community Space\, 507 55th St\, Oakland\, CA 94609. We recommend arriving 10 minutes before the class start time for check-in. \nPlease do not attend in person if you have any respiratory symptoms whatsoever.
