We say: surrender to the spirit of random chance\, or maybe slip the MC a bribe of some sort.\nQ: Do I have to be an amazing musician to throw my name in a can?A: Probably not. Your band’s only gonna be onstage for 5 minutes\, anyway; how bad can you possibly be?\nQ: I play an instrument other than what’ll be onstage\, like the sax or trumpet. SUMMARY:Techno Ecstatic Movement
DESCRIPTION:This event is a free\, walk-in dance meetup encouraging fitness\, creativity and self-discovery through Techno Music and improvised movement. Rather than following structured choreography\, individuals are invited to use imagination and the body’s natural instinct to move in space. There is no “right” or “wrong” way to move. Those that often struggle synchronizing their movements rhythmically may find it easier dancing to Techno through ecstatic movement. The rhythmic nature of Techno can easily bring dancers into “Flow” or a sense of effortless movement and control within their bodies. Some may notice their body enters an almost trance-like state where every step\, arm movement\, and so on is perfectly coordinated. Do you want to find your “Groove”? Are you ready to merge with the music? This is a liberating experience where you can forget about perfecting your moves and simply immerse yourself in the rhythm of the music. It is a unique opportunity for exercise doing something fun in a safe\, inclusive\, judgement-free atmosphere. This event happens weekly on a recurring basis.

It’s July\, so wear the beachiest\, most sun-drenched vacation attire you’ve got!\n(1)The first rule of Instant Band Night is:  YOU  DON’T  HAVE  TO  PLAY  AN  INSTRUMENT  TO  ATTEND \n(2)The second rule of Instant Band Night is: We guarantee you (the audience) an astonishingly excellent time.\n(3)The third rule of Instant Band Night is: Bring a friend or three!\nIn case you’ve never been to Instant Band Night\, here’s the deal:\n1. The stage has a drum kit\, guitar\, bass\, keyboard\, and mics.2. We draw names out of hats to make instant bands that get 5 minutes in the green room to plan a 5-minute set (one song).*3. We say: surrender to the spirit of random chance\, or maybe slip the MC a bribe of some sort.\nQ: Do I have to be an amazing musician to throw my name in a can?A: Probably not. Your band’s only gonna be onstage for 5 minutes\, anyway; how bad can you possibly be?\nQ: I play an instrument other than what’ll be onstage\, like the sax or trumpet. Can I bring it?A: Hhhheeeeeelll yyyeeeessssss you can bring it. PLEASE DO. We had a guy bring a bassoon once\, and he rocked the living shit out of it — and\, by extension\, us. Woodwinds and brass\, which tend not to need extra amplification for a space of this size beyond being pointed vaguely at a mic\, are most welcome. If your instrument requires an amp\, that’s cool\, but you should get in touch with Jon about showing up early for setup.NOTE TO GUITARISTS: Leave your axe at home\, friend! We’ve got at least two of them onstage already. Yes\, yours is better than ours\, but look: you’re only gonna be up there for five minutes at a time: how much difference does it really make? We have no doubt you’ve got the skills to make anything with six strings and a pickup sound good!!\nQ: Do I have to pick my cover tunes beforehand?A: Listen. You and your band (who you’ve JUST MET) have 5 minutes onstage to do whatever the hell you can think of in the 5 minutes prior to walking up there. Are you ready to merge with the music? This is a liberating experience where you can forget about perfecting your moves and simply immerse yourself in the rhythm of the music.
