Featuring for the first time in the Bay Area, the directors and lead dancers of three distinct flamenco companiesperforming in a powerful cuadro performance with Guest Dancer Miguel Infante from Malaga, Spain, making his debut in the Bay. Carola Zertuche, director of Theater Flamenco, Yaelisa, director of Caminos Flamencos and Clara Rodriguez, director of AguaClara Flamenco, all join forces to present an evening of exciting and unique styles of flamenco with Guest Singer Senen Sentio and local guitarist Gopal Slavonic at the East Bay Community Space in Oakland. ARTISTS
Miguel Infante is a flamenco dancer, choreographer, and teacher from Málaga, Spain, located on the southern tip and Mediterranean coast of Andalusia. He began his professional career with mentors of the stature of Merche Esmeralda, José Ruíz, Manuel Reyes, Antonio Reyes, Paco Romero, Rafael del Carmen, Fran Espinos, and Andrés Peña. He was most recently principal dancer of legendary Spanish guitarist Juan Martín’s Flamenco Dance Ensemble and has toured internationally all over Europe and North America.

Mr. Infante is described as, “…a festero to the core: part percussionist, part singer, part dancer, and all artist, integrated and inseparable. He is spontaneous and full of charisma, communicating passion through his music and dance wherever he finds himself, be it at a local bar, in the kitchen, at a private party, or on stage.”

Carola Zertuche is a Bailadora, Choreographer, and a Director of Theatre Flamenco. She has embraced and showcased new, modern approaches to the art form which became innovative, intriguing, and professional flamenco productions ever staged in the Bay Area.

Yaelisa is the Artistic Director of Caminos Flamencos, an award-winning flamenco troupe renowned for bothits traditional and contemporary productions. She is an Emmy Award winner for Choreography, and nominated or 3 Isadora Duncan Dance Awards. Yaelisa has performed in Spain and the U.S. and collaborated with many fineartists including Andres Peña, Antonio “El Pipa,” Alejandro Granados, and many others, while presenting 20 years of acclaimed works in the U.S. with her company and as director of the New World Flamenco Festival.

Born in Huelva, Andalucia in 1977, Senen Sentio began exploring Cante Jondo 30 years ago (traditional flamenco singing). This takes him to the Academy of flamenco singer Esperanza Fernandez.

Gopal Slavonic trained at the prestigious ‘Fundacion de Arte Flamenco Cristina Heeren’ in Sevilla, Spain where he studied intensively with leading flamenco guitarists like Miguel Angel Cortez, Jose Postigo, Antonio Carmona, Eduardo Rebollar, and etc.
