For live performance there is an in-born magick to it’s in-the-moment nature. Part of what’s special about it is the simple fact that a live show is never the same show twice. Each performer on stage, every person behind the scenes, and every single human in the house shows up carrying the accumulation of their day, of their life to that moment even! The combined effect becomes an alchemy of sorts creating the one-of-a-kind experience that is live entertainment.
But our world today revolves around the *product* – branding, packaging, marketing, strategy, optics etc. The question then for the live performer: how do we reel people in to experience the ephemeral when the the ‘product’ is by nature fleeting? “Capturing the Ephemeral Art of Burlesque” aims to help burlesque performers answer that question in the form of video documentation.
Though we love our dive bar shows, our dimly lit sexy lounges, and our unconventional venues they often are not well suited for shooting video. Not to mention the overhead of hiring a videographer is beyond the reach of many independent performers. This month at MKO Presents we are building the show to address the need for quality video by Capturing the Ephemeral Art of Burlesque!
